Council check-in: how can Bored help with Ootle launch

Ootle launches in about a month, and the Council has a big part to play. First, thank you to everyone on the Council for the September summary. Publishing attendance and activity is what the charter asks for, and it’s what lets us have this conversation.

Reading it, I noticed one gap. Bored isn’t listed at any of the four September meetings (Sep 8, 15, 22, 29), and his entry reads “Voting and commenting when called upon.” Everyone else has concrete work listed (Council Metrics ( Council Metrics )).

I’d love to see this turn into a positive sts public X account (@BoredElonMusk, which Itake to be the same person) has 1.5M @BoredElonMuskollowers and posted 659 times between July 9 and Oct 11. He posted on all 95 days, and he’s clearly enthusiastic about creating best example" of a privacy-focused chain(Aug 17). Just a small share of that audience and energy pointed at Tari, around Ootle launch, could do a lot.

@boredelon , could you share your plans? For example:

  • Can you join the weekly meetings, and which time zone works for you?
  • Could you cover a specific area, such as outreach, partnerships or launch content?
  • Is something getting in the way that the Council or community could help with?

For the Council: the charter asks members to attend and contribute materially, and sets a stipend of 400,000 XTM amonth (reference cap $8,000). It would help the community to see the stipend method and what has been paid, plus the
July and August summaries (TIP-0002( rfcs/src/TIP-0002_tari_community_charter.md at main · tari-project/rfcs · GitHub )). If there’s no clear plan
after the next meeting or two, the charter and I hope we don’t need it.

Caveats: I only have September data, meetingre may be a good explanation I can’t see. I’m not questioning anyone’s intentions, just hoping we get the whole Council pulling together before launch.

Maybe it’s a tactical move to not mention Tari until after the L2 and further development, but would be good to know there is such a strategy to explain the clear lack of engagement with the project as a council member.

Strongly support this, and thanks to 0xhra for raising it constructively.

With the Ootle launch weeks away, every seat on the Council matters. Going by the Council’s own September summary, three Article IV requirements aren’t currently being met:

  • “Participate in scheduled Council deliberations”: Bored isn’t listed at any of the four September meetings.
  • “Contribute materially to at least one area of Council responsibility”: every other member has concrete work listed, while Bored’s entry is “voting and commenting when called upon.”
  • “Council service is an active working role, not an honorary position.”

To be fair, the summary does credit him with voting and commenting when called upon, and there may be context we can’t see. So I’d echo 0xhra’s ask: @boredelon, it would be great to hear your plans for the coming months.

If there isn’t a clear plan, the charter already provides the path:

  • Article IV makes willingness to yield a seat “a condition of service.”
  • Article VIII binds the Council to make changes when the protocol would be better served.
  • Article IV also provides for removal by majority vote of the remaining Council, with the reasoning made public.

We have a strong Core Contributor cohort ready to step in. It would also help to see the July and August summaries, as the charter requires.

also @Blake … i dont think the silence is tactical

BoredElon is stepping down from the Tari Council. We are very grateful for all their contributions, and support. Bored is a superstar, and we are so lucky to be their friend, and to have their support as we continue to make Tari a highly useful, pro-freedom protocol.

all eyes on oootle now … although i thought a swift replacement can reduce workload for existing members

At the consent of the CC body, the council would like to defer elections until after the launch. There’s less than a month left and we’ve been able to get a lot done with the current work split, so we’re confident we can get things out the door with the remaining team.

thats fair … smaller team quicker decisions .. keen to hear what the CC body says Re this

In favor of throwing Elon out, not in favor of Okan being the replacement, as he attemps to position himself

Edit: nevermind, just read he stepped down. Also: Hes far from being a “superstar” as Fox suggests, hes just been in crypto long enough to amass that amount of bot following from the good old 2016/2017 bullrun days and has zero interactions with any crypto posts that are of relevance.

I’m not interested tbh … I can’t contribute efficiently in a bureaucratic environment

There are a lot of talented individuals who contribute a ton of their time to Tari. I hope that a better one takes their place after atomic swap and mainnet launch  keep up the good work!
