Hey everyone ![]()
I don’t think I’ve officially announced this here before, but I’ve been working on a web-based version of Tari Universe with Ootle support.
I’ve been really impressed with how it has come together so far, and I’d love to get some feedback from the community on the UX, UI and overall functionality.
Web Universe: https://universe.tari.mw
Ootle Integration: Tari dApp Integration
The project has also resulted in a couple of open-source components that anyone can use:
tari-cipherseed — https://www.npmjs.com/package/tari-cipherseed
@chironbuilder/ootle-sdk — https://www.npmjs.com/package/@chironbuilder/ootle-sdk
These are intended to make it easier for other developers to build Tari and Ootle-related applications and integrations without having to reinvent the underlying pieces themselves.
Some of the things I’ve been working towards with the Web Universe include:
• A familiar Tari Universe-style experience accessible directly through a browser
• Ootle integration and ecosystem support
• Cross-compatibility of seed derivation with Tari Universe on desktop
• A simpler onboarding experience without requiring the desktop application
• Reusable open-source components for other developers
• A foundation that can be expanded with additional Ootle functionality and ecosystem integrations
The seed derivation is designed to be compatible with Tari Universe on desktop, so a seed generated through the web version can be used with the desktop version and vice versa.
This is still a community-driven project, so feedback, suggestions and criticism are very welcome. If there are features you’d like to see, UX issues you notice, or improvements you think would make this more useful, please let me know.
Tari Labs: if you would prefer that I don’t keep the UI/UX closely aligned with the desktop version of Universe, I’m completely happy to change the design direction.
I’m also open to submitting the Web Universe and its supporting components as assets for the Tari Council, if there is interest in maintaining and developing them as part of the wider Tari ecosystem.
Would love to hear what everyone thinks. ![]()
