I’d love to run an additional community-funded contest alongside this month’s Spooky Secrets challenge!
I’m putting up an extra 100,000 XTM to reward builders who use the Sapient Web Extension in their submissions.
Bonus prizes:
- 50,000 XTM
- 30,000 XTM
- 20,000 XTM
How it works:
If the official contest winners have used the Sapient Web Extension in their projects, I’ll award these bonus prizes to the top three qualifying submissions.
If the official winners aren’t using the extension, I’ll select the best projects that demonstrate its use and award the prizes to those builders instead.
The goal is simple: encourage more builders to experiment with the Sapient Web Extension, build cool things on Tari, and show what’s possible with programmable privacy.
On standard transparent chains, solving an on-chain riddle gets you front-run by mempool bots who copy your answer and steal the prize. With Tari + Sapient, the payout is confidential:
window.tari Provider: Connects directly to the Sapient Chrome extension using tari_requestAccounts and detects extension capabilities via tari_getCapabilities.
Stealth Address Derivation: Reads the player’s bech32m stealth address (otl_esm_1...) via tari_getWalletAddress to ensure outputs are never routed to an exposed public identity.
Confidential Payouts (sendPrivately): Bounties are unlocked and paid out via tari_createTransactionRequest with kind: "sendPrivately", giving the solver an unlinkable stealth UTXO upon breaking the cryptographic seal.
Anti-Frontrunning Hashlocks: Riddles are sealed with SHA-256 preimages verified client-side before triggering the transaction request, preventing mempool snooping.
2D Catacomb Explorer + Crypt Ledger: Includes both a retro side-scroller with dynamic lighting where you climb steps to loot tombs, and a ledger view with a fallback testnet simulator for instant testing.
