CC Nomination: kinkajou

I am nominating @kinkajou for the Core Contributor program as a Project CC.

@kinkajou has been an active council member, and has been heavily active in the community since before I got actively involved. He was one of the first to help me when I was trying to learn my way around the L2. In fact, my original nomination of him to the council already contains much of the qualifications he has for this position.

@kinkajou has experience working with Exchanges to roll out upgrades to chains, instrumented our migration of spaces from X to Discord, proposed improvements to Network security, and has stepped up at every opportunity to pitch in where he can. Kinkajou’s roundedness and ability to deliver make him an apt fit for the Project CC role.

Just for clarity, the only folks permitted to nominate and vote on CC positions are CCs and current council members. Since there are no CCs yet (at least, under the new system), it’s just council members. After there are at least 11 CCs, only CCs will have voting powers (except in the case of an appeal to the council, which would require unanimous voting to override.)

Of course, everyone is welcome to add their thoughts about the nomination/nominee, even if they aren’t part of the voting body. :slight_smile:

Thankfully, every one of the nominees can become CCs. There’s not an upper limit to the number of them we can have, but they are a trusted group with high membership requirements, and belonging confers voting rights in council elections moving forward.

Same for kinkajou, nothing but love. My position’s the same on principle: Council members shouldn’t also hold CC positions.

  1. Concentration of power, governing and electing shouldn’t sit with the same people
  2. Cleaner accountability when the two bodies stay separate

Voting no here too. Consistent with my reasoning above, nothing personal.
