Biring back admins in Telegram

These days, ads are everywhere in tari telegram group. And admins a nowhere to find.

I think this is bad for the tari community. I volunteer to be an admin to delete these ads immediately if no more admins care about it.

Agree

We could/should bring mods on voluntary basis.

For Tari to succeed, our chats need to look presentable. If I’m a new user and just joined the chat, and I see loads of porn links hanging around for 12+hours, it’s a instant no go.

I’m following the chat more or less during the day. I could clear the bots. (For free ofc)

Yup. We need human moderators.
Set up logs for admins. Promote some community volunteers to moderator to ban bots/delete scam messages.
Moderators review the chats (including bot actions), and admins police the moderators via logs to make sure mods aren’t acting improperly with their permissions.

Seems like there are plenty of active community members that would be willing to help, myself included.

Thank you for your noble gesture. We should have a community program that rewards people for this. Right now, Tari Labs is trying to strike a balance between modern AI tooling, which only came online here in the last couple of days and has some bugs I’m wringing out, and the old world of three paid mods for a very small active community. @Fox @kinkajou could you design the community lead moderator program for us and propose it. The Council has not been picked yet, but I would like to solicit feedback on what you think the stipend and rules should be around this.

Hi @possum,

While I think we should do this, it would probably be helpful to do something simpler and more expedient in the interim-- like granting moderator access to a handful of people already trusted in other areas of the community. This could be people like Kinkajou, or others that we already know are guiding constructive discussion here. I’m also willing to clear spam for free when I encounter it. I wouldn’t have a problem with @AppleWithWorms either-- the congress of annelids has shown to be a positive force.

I know you’re currently working on a moderation bot system. It would be helpful to have a handful of people who, when the bot is having a moment or there’s some other issue, are likely to be peeking in the chats anyway. They can remove any spam that is missed. It can be communicated explicitly that this is an interim position until a moderation framework is set up. As long as everyone’s on the same page, it should be fine.

Some things do no require unnecessary bureaucracy.

Some things do deserve to be rewarded, though. And that always requires some thought. I agree that Fox and Kinkajou should have moderation privileges stat. FYI Tari Agent has been working perfectly so far so good for the past 24 hours despite the onslaught of porn spam in channels.

Council members should have MOD by default IMO yes.

Having AI sorting chats is cool, but it might not always be as accurate as humans. Need back ups when machines revolt :grinning_face_with_smiling_eyes:

Where did the admins go?
