MoneroKon 2026 - Tari Representation & Coordination

I’m attending MoneroKon in Warsaw this June and want to coordinate Tari’s presence at the event.

Why MoneroKon matters for Tari:

The privacy-focused developer and investor community will be concentrated in one place. MoneroKon attracts builders, miners, researchers, and investors who care deeply about privacy technology… exactly the audience Tari needs to connect with.

Event details: https://monerokon.org/

Proposed objectives:

  • Developer recruitment - onboarding builders interested in Ootle/privacy L2s
  • Miner outreach - connecting with Monero miners about merge-mining opportunities
  • Ecosystem partnerships - identifying aligned projects and potential integrations
  • Community feedback - what does the privacy community want to see from Tari?
  • Representation - ensuring Tari has a voice in privacy tech conversations

What I’m committing to:

  • Coordinate with other Tari community members attending (if any)
  • Represent Tari in conversations and panels (if appropriate)
  • Document conversations, contacts, and opportunities
  • Report back to the community post-event with actionable insights

Questions for the community:

  • Is anyone else planning to attend MoneroKon?
  • What should I prioritise while there?
  • Are there specific people, projects, or topics I should focus on?
  • Should we prepare any materials (one-pagers, presentation deck, swag)?

We’re stronger together. Time to lobby effectively and make some noise at MoneroKon, Tari peeps :turtle:

Swag is always a good marketing tool. Maybe there’s some swag left from testnet market tari labs can contribute?

good alpha, @possum thoughts?

Stand with Tari banners is a must.

Were I a newcomer to Tari, my first questions would be about use cases and utility. Why would I need this? What would I be able to do in a privacy-respecting way that I cannot do today with other tools?

I would be interested in Tari’s technical innovations:

  • Merge-mined RandomX with Monero - how was it achieved and how easy is it to do as an existing XMR miner?
  • Multiple mining ‘lanes’, what each is intended to accomplish, how were they chosen, and importantly how are they balanced. What analyses were done for attack vectors and proper proportionality?
  • The Turbine model to burn L1 tokens - how it works and how it applies deflationary pressure
  • L2 innovations - stealth transfers, confidentiality dial, Cerberus

I may be an outlier, but solid technical details along with concrete examples of the Ootle’s possibilities would be enticing to me at first contact

I’ll look into this.

Good idea! Unfortunately bit short notice for banners this year, but definitely doable for future iterations.

Looking at MoneroKon’s sponsorship page ( Sponsor | Monero Konferenco ), outright sponsorship tiers are $3.5k-$15k which I’m not sure we have budget for… yet

However, Community Partner status looks perfect for us:

  • Recognition in promotional materials
  • Link exchange
  • Discount codes
  • Free tickets for giveaways

Community Partners are specifically for “likeminded communities, movements, collectives that support privacy, freedom, and decentralization” - that’s literally Tari.

I can take the lead on drafting an application but would need help from the community to amplify the message on socials once we’re approved (coordinated tweets, Discord/Telegram announcements, etc.).

Thoughts? @possum @Fox - does this make sense as an approach?

Agreed - these are exactly the questions technical folks will ask at MoneroKon.

Perhaps it would be useful to create a Tari one-pager covering:

  • Use cases & utility (what can you build on Ootle that you can’t elsewhere?)
  • Technical innovations (merge-mining, lanes, turbine model, L2 features)
  • Getting started resources (links to docs, template library, forum)

Something concise I can hand out during conversations at the event. I can take a first pass at drafting this and sync for feedback.

Would be great to get input from core contributors on technical accuracy. @possum @Fox - thoughts on this approach? Happy to coordinate.

Update: Community Partner Application Submitted

I’ve submitted an application to MoneroKon organizers for Tari Community Partner status.

What this provides if approved:

  • Recognition in promotional materials
  • Discount codes for community
  • Cross-promotion opportunities

Application highlights:

  • Merge-mining alignment with Monero
  • Privacy-focused technical and philosophical overlap
  • Community-driven governance transition timing

Would appreciate amplification on X to help ensure organisers see it:

Will update when I hear back from organizers :turtle:

Update: MoneroKon Community Partner application was not approved.

We’ll connect with organisers directly at the event in Warsaw and coordinate Tari presence on-site… i think they just need to be enticed a lil xd … its a win / win for both parties, we bring ticket sales and they amplify tari

Appreciate everyone who amplified the application

Not sure why I didn’t get ping notifications from this thread-- I’ll need to check my settings.

Sad to see they didn’t give us the thumbs up this go-around for any special status, but agreed that anyone who is going anyhow should take the time to get to know folks, learn their concerns, and see how we can collaborate in future years.
